I can't really take credit for this. Jess gave me the idea. But this is such a cute little home decor piece that you can make yourself. We have it hanging above a big mirror that's over our couch.
On Saturday Greg and I went to the Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork. I don't know much about the Hindu culture, but I believe the festival is celebrating the start of Spring. There were thousands of people there and we had a blast. After a countdown from 20 everyone throws colored powdered chalk into the air and on each other. The chalk totally overtakes the air. We couldn't even see 3 feet in front of us. We were sneezing purple for quite a while :)
Some of you may be wondering what a used book wreath is. So did I. But when I saw what it was, I knew I had to have one. If you know me, you know I'm the least artistic person on the planet, but I actually made this!!! And yes, it's made of book pages. Here'show to create one for yourself.
Greg is such a sweetie. I've been really sick lately but felt so much better after he came home from work holding this...
We also went to Color Me Mine. It's an art studio that has pre-made ceramic items that you can paint. They have plates, little animals, and all sorts of cute home decor. Greg decided to paint us a magnet to put on the dishwasher. We can never keep track of whether the dishes are clean or dirty.
And I painted a plaque that's going to hang in our kitchen...and yes, I know I'm not a mom yet, but I will be eventually!
So what happens now? The studio will keep our pieces and fire them in a kiln. Then they'll be really pretty and shiny. We get to pick them up on Monday so be looking for more pictures then.
Greg and I had a great Valentine's Day. Since it was on a Sunday this year, we celebrated on Saturday. Greg cooked me a wonderful, romantic, candle-lit dinner. It was the first time he's cooked for me and it was delicious! The night ended with snuggling and the Olympics.
I woke up early to make Greg breakfast in bed on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to find Daisies, my fav, and the new boots I've been wanting for like 3 months. Yay! And they look great on me if I do say so myself. What's funny is that I got Greg new Vans as a gift. He looks super classy in them. We just love shoes I guess. As a sort of combined present we bought new dishes, because our old ones were hideous, to put it nicely. But now we have pretty ones that I'm not embarrassed of.
We spent the rest of Valentine's Day relaxing, eating cupcakes and being silly with Todd and Jess.
